The Place Beyond the Pines: The American Dream

Luke and Avery were both American dreamers, but their dreams are very different.
Luke did all of the wrong things  for the right reason. His goal or should I say dream was to have a happy family. The only reason he robbed banks was so he have money for his child. He didn't want to be the hero, he just wanted to help. But is he really doing the right thing? I think he's a better person than Avery, but that's just what I think. I think its better to provide for your family

Avery did all the right things for the wrong reasons. He lied he wanted to be a hero. The truth mattered less than being looked up to. He wanted to be important. He made a mistake and he lied, he felt guilty. He couldn't fix it. He even ratted out the other cops so that he would be the hero. Avery didn't care about his family he got divorced and his son became a drug addicted loser. In every ones eyes Avery was a hero, but in my eyes he's a coward.

Avery got his dream. Unfortunately Luke's dream ended short.

To get what you want you have to sacrifice. Luke and Avery  had to sacrifice a lot of things to get their dreams. I don't think it is possible to get your dream without doing something wrong. If you just do what you are supposed to do and follow everyone else you may never reach your goals and become who you want to be. Every dream comes at a expense.
